Europe’s best are in Barcelos to compete in the 2025 WSE Continental Cup

Everything is ready for the start of the WSE Continental Cup, which will take place in Barcelos, Portugal, this weekend, 25 and 26 October. OC Barcelos, FC Porto, HC Igualada and SC Tomar are the teams that will compete in the competition, which remains in Final Four format For the eighth time in the history of the competition, the WSE Continental Cup, better known as the European Rink Hockey Super Cup, will be played in Final Four format, featuring the best teams from the previous year’s WSE Champions League and WSE Cup. As such, OC Barcelos (European champion) and FC Porto (runner-up in the WSE Champions League) will face off against HC Igualada (winner of the WSE Cup) and SC Tomar (runner-up in the WSE Cup) at the Barcelos Municipal Pavilion, which will once again host a Final Four of the competition, something that has not happened since September 2018. This Saturday, the 25th, at 12:00 (GMT+1), OC Barcelos will take to the rink to face SC Tomar in the first game of the day. Later, the second semi-final will take place at 18:00 (GMT +1), with an exciting HC Igualada – FC Porto match. The final will be played on Sunday, 26 October, at 18:00 (GMT)- Of the four teams, only HC Igualada is repeating its presence from 2024, a competition held in Oliveira de Azeméis, which was ultimately won by the home team, UD Oliveirense. Among the teams present, the Spanish side Igualada is the most successful. The team from the autonomous community of Catalonia has won the Continental Cup five times, although never in the Final Four format. Their last victory dates back to 1999/00. FC Porto has won the competition twice (in 2023/24 and 1986/87) and OC Barcelos once (1991/92). SC Tomar has yet to win a European competition.
