One of the most anticipated moments of the entire season has finally arrived. The fourth phase is about to begin, Quarter Finals, preceded by two Qualifying rounds at the end of 2023 and the Group Phase, which just ended about ten days ago.
There are four quarter-final matches, all very interesting. History tells us that the teams with the second match at home have the greatest chance of going through. But sport has often faced us with surprises, especially in such an important moment and with such strong teams. There are four challenges of undoubted value in our sport, the best that Europe can show at club level.
Sporting-Barça, two Champions Leagues each in the last 10 years, but it is incredible that at this time the last clash dates back to October 2015 for the Continental Cup final then won by Barcelona.
Barcelos-Benfica, also in the top 8 last season, have not met since October 2016 at European level, also a Continental Cup Final won by Benfica in the second leg. The last match ended 4-4.
Trissino-Olveirense: was the quarter-final last season in the Final Eight in Viana do Castelo, the only clash in their European history, which ended 4-4 in regulation time and was decided on penalties 3-1 for the portugueses.
Lodi-Porto: in 2018 the two recent clashes in the Group Stage ended with a 1-1 tie and a victory for Porto 8-3, the same story in 2012 with the home victory in Portugal and the tie in Italy.Live scoring as always on http://wse.sidgad.com
