OC Barcelos wins its second WSE Continental Cup

What a tremendous final we saw at the Barcelos Municipal Pavilion, where the home team, playing to a packed and vibrant crowd, beat FC Porto (4-3) and won the second Continental Cup in its history. Carlitos Ramos scored twice in the match and catapulted OC Barcelos to victory, adding this trophy to their WSE Champions League win.

OC Barcelos is the big winner of the 2025 WSE Continental Cup, won in its pavilion, considered by many to be the “cathedral of rink hockey”. And in front of a dazzling crowd that packed the stands, the Minho team gave their all to celebrate at the end and win the second Continental Cup in their history.
The first half was tremendous, with both teams playing strategically, respecting each other, but providing a great rink hockey spectacle. Both OC Barcelos, playing at home and with the majority of the crowd behind them, and FC Porto gave their all to win a trophy that both teams wanted.
Three minutes in, Gonçalo Alves missed a penalty, so it was necessary to wait until the final five minutes of the first half for the excitement to reach fever pitch. FC Porto scored first, with Edu Lamas finishing off an excellent team move and beating Guillem Torrents for the first time six minutes before half-time. Almost immediately, while the Porto fans were still celebrating, OC Barcelos equalised on the counter-attack, with Carlitos Ramos scoring the equaliser. And just before half-time, three seconds before the end of the first half, Carlitos again, in a lightning-fast counter-attack, put Barcelos ahead. The 2-1 score at half-time was acceptable but still penalised Porto.
Boosted by their lead, the home side came back from the break even more determined, and the pavilion went wild when Kyllian Gil scored a great goal, lifting the ball over Xavi Malián to make it 3-1 (27′). FC Porto had to dig deep to counter the Minho side’s upward trend and won a penalty. This time Gonçalo Alves made no mistake and reduced the deficit to 3-2 (32′) with plenty of time left to play.
It was FC Porto’s turn to give it their all, but Barcelos defended well, holding on to their narrow lead, and the energy coming from the stands was an important boost for those on the court.
In the last minute, playing without a goalkeeper, FC Porto tried everything in 5×4, but it was the Dragons who suffered: with the goal open, Ivan Morales shot from distance and hit the target. With just seconds to go, Rafa reduced the deficit, but there was no time for more. The party broke out and the Minho team’s celebration was huge.
