Portugal confirmed their excellent form by winning their Quarter Final 9-0. A match conducted admirably without conceding a goal, finishing the excellent first half 7-0 and 2-0 in the second. The scorers’ report includes four goals by Gonçalo Leal, two by Joao Almeida, one by Araujo, Silva and Filipe. The best scorer remains Martim Nunes with 5 goals at the top of the special ranking of best scorers.
Spain also had a rather comfortable quarter-final with another large result in their favor against England. The first half ended with a score of 8-0, imposing a great pace in view of the Semi-final. Then in the second half a less invasive game to recover strength, which ended with the result of 10-0. Hat-trick for Marti Reñon, two for Berent, Porta and Milà but the best scorer remain Sama with 4 goal scored.
Italy, on the other hand, had a little more difficulty especially in the first half, where they were unable to overcome the excellent performance of the Switzerland goalkeeper. The 1-1 in the first half was then transformed into 6-1 in the second half where the figure of Pesavento emerged, a hat-trick for one of the youngest players in the tournament.
France managed to regain their physical and mental strength after the effort of last match against Spain and thanks to an excellent first half they managed to defeat Germany, surprised by the high pace imposed in the first minutes, reaching 0 -2 already after the first 10 minutes. Neau and Kebe scored the French victory, before Germany failed to capitalize on a powerplay in both the first and second half. Echappe scores the 0-3 and in the second half Germany manages to score a goal in the 10th minute with top scorer Haubrock (1-3).
For today’s defeats there will be a way to make up for them in the playoff phase from 5th to 8th position. Starting at 09:30 the game returns between Austria and Germany and at 11.15 between England and Switzerland. The highlight of the program is certainly represented by the two semi-finals: at 17:00 Portugal against France and at 20:45 Spain against Italy, two matches already played and won by the two Iberian teams, the favorites to repeat the ninth consecutive final.
