The second and last round of 2023 can still tell some new truths in the group phase of the WSE Champions League: Barça and Barcelos in Group A, after the two home victories, must be able to confirm themselves at Forte dei Marmi and Deportivo Liceo respectively. The “Blaugrana” are the favorites after the determined first victory two weeks ago, but the match in Italy does not seem so easy against the first in the Serie A1 Championship. Deportivo Liceo will also have to be right about Portuguese Barcelos in order not to remain behind in the standings. In Group B only Parlem Calafell will be played against Reus Deportiu Virginias, i.e. the derby already seen in the 2nd Qualifying Round which ended 2-2, while in the Spanish Championship Calafell won in Reus 5-3. The Sporting-Benfica derby has been postponed to January 17th.
With the tie between Lleida and Tomar (3-3), Group C is still very open. Porto Fidelidade, first in the standings, will have to try to give their best at Tomar IPT, one of the great surprises of the Placard Championship, repeating the 3-1 victory of three weeks ago. Trissino hosts Finques Prats Lleida, both still in the fight for qualification, but the favor of the rink should benefit the Italians. In Group D, a direct clash between the two winners of the first round, Saint-Omer against Oliveirense Simoldes: it is a rather important match for the French to understand where is their limit, against one of the fittest teams in all of Europe, first in Placard Championship together with Sporting. One of the most disappointing teams of the first round, Valongo Colquimica and Amatori Wasken Lodi: both are not going through a good moment in the championship, seventh and fifth respectively, but who can find new enthusiasm in the European floor. The next appointment for the third round, the. halfway through the group stage, will be held on January 11, 2024.
