First matchday of the WSE Champions League with four Portuguese victories (Sporting, Valongo, Benfica and Oliveirense), three Spanish (Barça, Reus, Noia) and one tie (Porto-Trissino). Important victory for Barça against Forte dei Marmi 6-2, thanks to an excellent second half after a 2-1 win in the first half and scores twice Ignacio Alabart and Joao Rodrigues. And in the first place, in group C, with three points there is also Valongo Colquimica who won 3-0 on Lodi’s rink, a victory achieved above all in the first half (goals from Santos, Navarro and Abreu). In Group B, however, Porto and Trissino ended up in a balanced tie, with the portuguese who were without three important players such as Alves, Di Benedetto and Malian. The Italians managed to finish the first half 1-2 ahead, but in the second half Porto turned the game around to 3-2. Trissino equalized in the powerplay with Mendez 3-3. In first place in the group is Noia Freixenet, who managed to win on the Gamma Innovation Sarzana rink for 4-3 (two goals from Ballart), even risking too much in the exciting final.
In Group D, hard-earned victories by Sporting and Reus in their first WSE Champions League. Sporting prevailed 3-1 in the derby against Barcelos (2 goals from the Argentine Romero) while Virginias prevailed 4-2 (twice from Julià). In the last two games of the historic first Thursday with European rink hockey, two Portuguese victories. Oliveirense, driven by three goals from Lucas Martinez, prevailed decisively against Deportivo Liceo (5-1), while Benfica, after an excellent first half, suffered the return of Calafell but still managed to win 5- 3 (two goals for the Argentinean Alvarez).
