Italy wins the match against France and is now first in the table of the Men Competition after the tie between Spain and Portugal. A result that adds a little more spice to a group that seems rather balanced. Already tomorrow with the matches between Italy-Spain and Portugal-France we will be able to better understand the group. The “Azzurri” won 4-0, convincing above all in the first half, when the result was 3-0. The Iberian duel ends in a substantial fair draw, even if the great hot in the venue, limited the great explosiveness of the two teams. The two 1-1 goals all came in the first half: Sama’s goal from midfield was answered by Tomas Almeida’s shot outside the area.
Group B, however, saw Switzerland and Germany at the top of the table, winners against England and Austria. The Swiss team took the three points in the second half, when England slowed down the pace. The decisive goals were scored by Devittori and Rubi for the final 3-1. Even between Austria and Germany, the match was decided in the second half: after the 1-0 in the first half, the Germans went up to 5-0. Haubrock scored two goals. Switzerland and Germany who will have to confirm themselves again tomorrow in the matches against Austria and England respectively.
The Women European Championship begins with three victories for Spain, Portugal and Italy which place them in the top three places of the ranking. Italy-Germany was the most balanced match of the first matchday, as the teams are very similar. It was Ghirardello who broke the deadlock (two goals) with a winning shot six minutes from the end (2-1 final). The Portuguese girls instead won 5-0 against England, in the re-edition of last year’s final (two goals for Machado).
