Spain and Portugal sign their first victories and take the lead in the standings

After yesterday’s tie, the two Iberian teams return to the top of the table as in the last 10 years in the Under 17 category. Portugal won 6-0, even if in the first half France remained close to the Portuguese team, thanks to a good defense. The power and speed of Martim Nunes was effective in winning the first victory of the tournament, scoring 4 goals out of the 6 scored. Araujo and Filipe then rounded it up to 6-0 which also leaves them ahead on goal difference too.
Spain replies with an equally important result of 6-1 winning in the first match. Also in this case, the first half was more balanced than the second, where Italy managed to stay in the game, suffering a 2-1 result. In the second half, Nicolas Sama’s two goals in a few seconds diverted the match towards the Spanish tracks. Mila, Orus, Mareque extend the result to the final 6-1, without serious attacks for the italians.
Italy-Portugal (17:!5) and Spain-France (20:45) will decide the ranking positions before the quarter-finals, where the favorites will always be the two Iberian teams who have shown that they have something more than their opponents.

Emotions were not spared in Group B because the only one to remain with full points was Switzerland, winning 2-0 against a square Austria who only lacked a goal. As on their debut, Rui Faria’s team was the most proactive but the two goals that decided the match came within a minute at the end of the first half, thanks to quick goals from Schenk and Devittori. They therefore remain in the lead for a solitary hour before the last match tomorrow against Germany (09:00) which will decide the Group standings. Indeed, Germany did not go beyond a draw against an England team in great defensive form. England and Austria will face to make some points (11:15)
