The gold medal is won by Spain. The Final was decided into penalties, where the only one to scored in 10 shots was Alba Costa, giving away the first European Under 17 women’s title.
A final with an incredible audience with almost all the seats occupied on the Josep Jou rink where the two teams fought until the last minute. Spain, equipped with a greater technical rate, tried to score at all costs and in all ways but Portugal’s defensive sacrifice was exemplary, containing the waves of expert Spanish players. A match with two completely opposite faces but with the same passion and dedication to the goal. There were plenty of opportunities for the home team to score the winning goal but goalkeeper Daniela Araujo was unstoppable, while the Portuguese attack was only able to operate on their opponents’ mistakes, which were sometimes dangerous results. The penalties decided their verdict but for Women Rink Hockey it was a light show of its own.
Bronze medal for France, historic for the women’s sector which had not won a medal since 2009 (Senior). The conquest came at the photo-finish of the match: a shot from Gelebart was deflected by the Italian defender, sending the ball into the net. Before the daring victory, Italy had scored the goal with Messora and Cayol with a penalty shot equalized 1-1.
In fifth place Germany beat England only in the second half after a rather balanced match. In the second half some quick actions decided the final 5/6 place with goals from Molet, Eschrich and Zikova. Sixth England.
