The eight best teams qualified for the WSE Champions League Women Quarter Finals have been defined. There will be six Spanish ones, Esneca Fraga, Vila-sana Coop d’Ivars, Telecable Gijon, Coruña, Martinelia Manlleu, Generali Palau Plegamans, one Portuguese, Astro Stuart Massamà and one Italian, Roller Matera. Yesterday three clear victories for Groups B,C,D leaders. TeleCable Gijon won 7-0 at the home of the Germans Remscheid (twice for Almeida, Roces and Cobian), Coruña prevailed in the second half at the home of the French Coutras by 4-0 (hat-trick for Garrote) and Generali Palau Plegamans wins against the Swiss Vordemwald for 9-0 (hat-trick for Puigdueta and Florenza). Today, however, yet another big match in Group A, one of the strongest groups ever, ends in a tie. The result was 2-2 at Da Luz in Lisbon, Benfica vs Fraga, in an exciting match where Benfica tried in every way to score the winning goal that would have earned them qualification. Instead, they finished third in the group with 4 points, against 7 for Fraga and 6 for Vila-Sana.
The quarter-finals will be played in two matches: 1st leg on 23 and 30 March, the 2nd leg on 6 April. The next matches will be Matera-Fraga (30 March), Vila-Sana-Gijon, Stuart-Coruna, Manlleu-Palau
