The city of Braga and the "Pavilhao das Goladas" will host the third Under 17 WSE European Championship for both men and women. Another great success is expected following the editions in Correggio (Italy) and Gujan-Mestras (France), which saw great participation from both national teams and the public, justifying the decision to combine two European championships into a single week for the first time in history. This effort by the Portuguese Skating Federation (Federaçao Portuguesa de Patinagem) and the Braga City Council sees the tournament return to Portugal five years after the post-COVID men's edition in Paredes.
For the men, this will be the 44th edition, and in the last 10 editions, the two teams that have consistently contested the title have always been Portugal and Spain. Portugal has won four of the last 10 editions, with Spain winning the remaining six, the last of which was held in Italy in 2023. For five consecutive times, Italy and France have duelled for the bronze medal, but the last time one of these two national teams reached the top two steps of the podium was in 2014. They will, in turn, be busy fighting off competition from the other four registered teams: Germany, England, and Switzerland, who were ranked fifth to seventh respectively last year, plus the return of Andorra.
The Women's Under-17 Championship has often delivered great surprises in its first three editions. Portugal won the first, Spain the second, but the competition has always been very fierce: Italy, England, and France have already won medals. It will be another very balanced edition, thinking back to the final act of last season, when Spain won the title, and Italy finished second, while France, which was also third in 2024, made the podium.
Each day will begin at 9:30 with the men's tournament, featuring four matches, and the first day will be very exciting right from the start.It kicks off with Germany vs. Andorra (9:30), England vs. Switzerland (13:30), Italy vs. France (17:30), and Portugal vs. Spain (21:30), the last final for 10 consecutive times.
