WSE Cup Final Four in Igualada: the double match Spain-Italy in the Semi-finals will decide the finalists

After 9 years, Igualada is ready to receive a Final Four of the WSE Cup, the second European men’s Rink Hockey competition. The “Les Comes” facility returns as a protagonist at the highest European levels: in 2015 Sporting won the event in the final against Reus, when the Portuguese only managed to win with a golden goal in the semi-final against Igualada. To compete for this 44th edition, there will still be two Catalan teams, namely Igualada Rigat and the title holders Voltregà Movento Stern, and two Italian teams, exactly as happened two years ago in Paredes and five years ago in Lleida. In both cases, the winner was a Spanish team (Lleida and Calafell respectively) while the Italians always reached at least the final. All four teams are used to finals and the level will also be among the highest in recent times.
It will start immediately on Saturday at 16:05 with the first semi-final between Gamma Innovation Sarzana and Igualada Rigat. The Italians, twice finalists, three times in the Final Four, know well how to live these moments but Igualada has a young team with strong talent to return to reliving the great stage it was used to on so many years ago.
The program then includes the second semi-final between Follonica Hockey and the holder of the last WSE Cup title Voltregà Movento Stern at 18:45 Two great stories behind the two semi-finalists, the longer-lived one of Voltregà, seven times finalist and winner of the last trophy in 2023 in Lleida, but the same desire to return as a winner in Europe is also there for Follonica, winner in 2005 (twice finalist). Two solid teams thanks to two long-term projects, with a tradition for Rink Hockey that is difficult to undermine.
The final is scheduled for Sunday at 12:00 between the two winners.
